Introduction To Jewish Heritage Tours

Welcome to our Jewish Heritage Tours!  Here you will find all the Information you need to know about the heritage Tours.

Our tours have been specially designed for members of the Jewish community who would like to visit new and unusual destinations in exotic locations, without a compromise to their identity.

On all our tours you will feel the true essence of the country you are visiting and experience all it has to offer for the tourist, however Special care is taken in the planning of these tours that Shabbat is always observed and you will be able to attend Synagogue and in most cases enjoy Shabbat dinner with the local Jewish community, which will also give you the opportunity to learn about their local Jewish customs and traditions be it in Argentina, Cuba, China or India to name just a few.

Guides & Tour Leaders

Our Jewish Heritage Tours will include a tour leader from Infinite Horizons, a local English speaking guide with excellent knowledge of the local Jewish community in the city we are visiting.  On some tours you will also be accompanied by a Rabbi, invited by Infinite Horizons, to give us more input and perspective on the destination we are visiting.

Accommodation

The hotels are a minimum of 4 star superior hotels. If we visit a city that cannot offer this level of accommodation we will ensure that this is clearly stated in the itinerary so you are aware of this. We also try to stay within walking distance of the Synagogue where we will attend services, if this is at all possible.

Meals

• On our heritage tours we try to offer Kosher meals wherever possible.
• Due to the diversity of the countries we visit and their level of observance to Kosher laws it is not possible to guarantee Kosher meals throughout the tours. We do however offer the following options as well:
  Kosher where possible
  Vegetarian Lacto/Ovo
  Vegetarian Vegan
  No pork, no shellfish

Shabbat & Observance

• During our time on tour we will be in the same city from Friday 4pm till after Sunset on Saturday local time in the country we are visiting.
• In most instances we do not travel between Friday 4pm and Sunday morning.
• We do however guarantee that there is no travelling until after sunset on a Saturday.
• The group will attend the Friday night Shabbat service and dinner as this is part of the itinerary.
• Saturdays are always a day of leisure.  This enables those who want to go to Synagogue to do so. For the less observant this is an opportunity to visit museums, galleries or sights that have not been included in the itinerary. For others it is an opportunity to take time out, relax and enjoy the Shabbes. 
• So really Shabbat is your day to spend as you choose.

Extras

• We try to include as much as possible whilst you are on the tour.
• All tips, porterage and gratuities are included as a matter of course.
• We try to include all the highlights of each city, with informative tours, meals wherever possible, evening entertainment etc. So what you see on your itinerary is automatically included.  The only time something is not included is when it states optional.
• In certain communities where the Jewish community is struggling financially, for example Buenos Aires or Kaifeng we will give a donation from the group (usually monetary) and this will have been included.
• Should you at anytime feel you want to make a further donation you may do so, but please be advised that whilst they will be very grateful, it is not expected as you have already made your contribution by being part of the group.

For your own account

• These are items that do not form part of our Jewish heritage Tours
• Travel Insurance – this is compulsory
• No passenger will be permitted to travel without proof of medical travel insurance which must cover you for a minimum of USD $200 000.00
• Air travel to the destination from your country of residence
• We are happy to assist with air travel arrangements and make booking for you on your behalf, however as we have people joining from all over the world it is impossible for us to include the various airfares as part of the tour.
• Visas – all travellers must obtain their own visas however we are happy to advise and assist where we can.  At the time of booking you will also be advised which visas, if any are required as this is once again subject to your nationality.

Payment

A non re-fundable Deposit of 30% of tour cost, is payable at time of booking Balance of payment due 60 days prior to departure.

Tours For 2009

Gaucho, Tango & Torah
This is a magnificent tour which takes us to the heart of the Jewish community in Buenos Aires, Uruguay and Paraguay and of course a visit o the famous Iguassu Falls and an evening of Tango will complete the Latin American Experience.

The Taj, Tigers And Torah
India, home of the Bene Israel tribe, the Taj Mahal, the Bengal Tiger and down to the backwaters of Keralla.  We have broken this tour up into 2 sections so you can either do the entire tour or just a part 1 or part 2. So there is something to suit every budget.

Pagodas & Torah

This will be a unique experience to remember for all time.  You will travel from Yangon to Mandalay there is A relaxing river cruise and the incredible history of the remaining Jews in Rangoon with whom you will share Shabbat.

Indochina is so diverse and the Jewish communities in these cities add another element to these exotic Destinations. Countries that are included: Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, the Phillipines

Noodles, Silk & Torah
You have arrived in China! The lost Jewish tribe of Kaifeng is today struggling to reclaim their Jewish identity.
Come and meet Shi Lei the leader of the Jewish community in Kaifeng and learn about their past and the hopes they have for their future. Bustling Beijing with an amazing kosher restaurant hidden in the back alley and the bright lights of Shanghai is waiting to welcome us. Our final stop is Hong Kong before we bid farewell, to this diverse country.
