Women's American ORT is a national organization whose defining mission is this: to give a person a livelihood is to save a life. ORT (this Russian acronym stands for Organisation for the Distribution of Artisanal and Agricultural Skills) was originally founded in Tsarist Russia in 1880, as socially conscious members of the Jewish community in St. Petersburg banded together to establish an organization committed to assisting impoverished Jews throughout Russia.
The West Delray chapter of WAO is located in Delray Beach, Florida and has been in existence since 1982. Members of our chapter lend support to Women's American ORT by organizing and hosting fundraising events in our local area.
